This role is ideal for an experienced property accountant who wants more ownership in a high-volume, multi-entity environment. The successful candidate is organized, dependable, and hungry to grow, someone who will roll up their sleeves, own their work, and be rewarded for it. Strong communication, writing, and computer skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle property accounting across a high-volume, multi-entity real estate portfolio.
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.
- Process and support AR and AP activity; manage aging reports and follow-up.
- Maintain tenant ledgers and support rent, security deposit, and escrow accounting.
- Complete monthly bank and account reconciliations.
- Track cash activity, inflows and outflows, across multiple entities.
- Record and reconcile intercompany activity across related entities.
- Assist with the month-end close and preparation of property-level and consolidated financial reports.
- Research and resolve discrepancies; maintain clean, well-documented records.
- Support the Controller and CFO with variance analysis, auditor requests, and ad hoc reporting.
- Contribute to process improvement as the accounting function is rebuilt.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5–7 years of property accounting experience in real estate required; multi-entity experience strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of journal entries, GL, AR/AP, and reconciliations.
- Proven ability to manage large data volumes accurately in a fast-paced setting.
- Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP required).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- CPA not required.
- Comfortable working onsite, full-time; strong attendance and physical presence expected.
Compensation
- Base salary range of $85,000–$100,000, depending on experience.
