Senior Staff Machine Learning Platform Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Platform Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Business Services space.

This role will shape the long-term architecture of a modern machine learning platform that supports multiple data science teams and production workloads. The ideal candidate will drive standards for MLOps, reliability, and code quality while enabling scalable development across the organization. You will partner closely with data science, engineering, and platform stakeholders to improve performance, governance, and cost efficiency. This is a highly influential technical leadership role with broad impact on ML infrastructure and cloud architecture.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $295,000+ annually

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term architecture of the machine learning platform
• Establish company-wide standards for code quality and MLOps
• Lead adoption of governance tooling and multi-workspace strategies
• Architect scalable ML workflows using Spark and MLflow
• Optimize performance, reliability, and cost of the ML platform
• Evaluate and integrate emerging features from the platform ecosystem
• Mentor ML engineers and raise the team’s capabilities

Qualifications

• 10-12 years of experience in large-scale ML or data platforms
• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field preferred
• Deep expertise in Databricks lakehouse architecture with governance via Unity Catalog
• Proven ability to design systems for multiple data science teams and production workloads
• Strong background in distributed systems, ML infrastructure, and cloud architecture
• Demonstrated technical leadership and influence without authority
• Experience with LLM workflows and contributions to open source ML projects is a plus
