Senior Static Equipment Engineer

Senior Static Equipment Engineer | Qatar

We are looking for a Senior Static Equipment Engineer to lead static equipment engineering for major capital projects in an ammonia and urea complex. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in static equipment design, equipment specification, vendor design review, technical bid evaluation, and pressure equipment engineering within a project environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead static equipment sizing and selection for concept, feasibility, FEED and detailed engineering phases.
• Develop and review equipment specifications, datasheets, design basis and requisition packages for pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, columns, reactors, filters and other pressure equipment.
• Review static equipment calculations, drawings and vendor design packages for technical compliance.
• Conduct technical evaluation of vendor bids and resolve engineering queries during procurement.
• Review vendor calculations, material certificates and inspection/test plans during fabrication.
• Apply ASME/API codes and company engineering specifications, with strong focus on ASME Section VIII.
• Support fabrication, inspection, testing and commissioning by resolving technical and material/design issues.
• Work closely with EPC contractors, vendors, Procurement, Construction and other Engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in project safety reviews including HAZOP, SIL and Process Safety Management (PSM).
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other Static Equipment Engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8–12 years of direct static equipment engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with pressure equipment engineering, equipment specification, technical bid evaluation and vendor design review.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII and relevant ASME/API requirements.
• Experience with project procurement and EPC engineering processes.
• Experience reviewing engineering calculations, drawings, material documentation and inspection/test plans.
• Ammonia and urea project experience is preferred.
• Experience with engineering software such as AutoCAD, PV Elite or CAESAR II is preferred.
• API 510, API 570 or API 653 certification is preferred.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with absolute fluency in English.

Please note: This position is focused on static equipment engineering and project execution. Candidates whose experience is mainly in general mechanical maintenance, inspection or unrelated mechanical engineering may not be suitable.
