Senior Stone Mason: High-End Landscape and Hardscape Construction
Torrison Stone & Garden | Durham, CT
Full-Time | Multiple Positions Available
Build Exceptional Outdoor Spaces. Lead Exceptional Crews.
Torrison Stone & Garden is one of Connecticut’s premier design-build landscape and hardscape companies. Based in Durham, CT, we specialize in high-end residential outdoor living projects, including natural stone patios, walkways, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, pool patios, steps, veneer, and custom stone features.
For more than 25 years, we have built our reputation on craftsmanship, organization, and attention to detail. Our work is not basic construction. We build premium outdoor spaces for homeowners who expect quality, communication, and pride in the finished product.
We are hiring experienced Senior Masons who can take ownership of complex masonry work, help lead crews in the field, and set the standard for quality on every job site.
Position Overview
The Senior Mason is a hands-on field leadership role responsible for executing high-quality masonry work while helping guide and mentor other crew members. This person should be highly skilled in natural stone, pavers, block, concrete products, walls, steps, patios, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, and other hardscape features.
The right candidate is not only an excellent craftsperson but also someone who understands job site flow, takes pride in clean and accurate work, communicates well with Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers, and helps younger masons develop their skills.
This role is ideal for someone who wants steady full-time work, challenging projects, strong team support, and a long-term opportunity with a respected design-build company.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor masonry crew members on active job sites
- Construct patios, walkways, retaining walls, steps, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, pool patios, veneer, and custom stone features
- Perform high-quality installation of natural stone, pavers, block, concrete products, caps, coping, and related hardscape materials
- Read and interpret project plans, layouts, measurements, elevations, and field instructions
- Lay out work accurately and confirm that installation aligns with project drawings and field conditions
- Help manage daily job site workflow so crews stay productive, organized, and on task
- Coordinate with Foremen, Superintendents, Project Managers, and other field leaders
- Identify field issues early and communicate solutions before problems become delays
- Train and develop crew members in proper masonry techniques, tool use, production standards, and safety practices
- Maintain high standards for craftsmanship, alignment, pitch, cuts, joints, finishes, and overall appearance
- Operate hand tools, saws, compactors, levels, laser levels, and other masonry-related equipment safely
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site
- Follow company safety standards and help ensure crew members are working safely
- Protect client property, existing landscape features, completed work, equipment, and materials
- Represent Torrison Stone & Garden professionally on high-end residential properties
