Senior Strategic Planner

About the Opportunity

Our client, a premier planning and infrastructure advisory consultancy, is seeking a dynamic, client-facing Senior Strategic Planner (or an ambitious Strategic Planner ready to step up) to join their Melbourne team in a full-time, permanent role.

In this position, you will play a pivotal role in leading major strategic planning projects that reshape land use, economic strategy, and renewable infrastructure delivery across Victoria. In addition to driving large-scale strategic frameworks, you will leverage your statutory planning expertise to support key property developments, offering a diverse, high-impact portfolio within an established, highly collaborative consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning Leadership: Lead complex strategic planning deliverables, including structure planning, master planning, precinct plans, and framework strategies.
• Cross-Discipline Integration: Coordinate with technical specialists (engineering, transport, environmental) to translate complex data into practical, deliverable planning options for clients.
• Statutory Planning Support: Manage statutory planning property applications, site constraint assessments, and planning scheme amendments across the business's broader project pipeline.
• Client & Authority Engagement: Facilitate high-level meetings with Local and State Government agencies, referral authorities, and private proponents.
• Project & Team Delivery: Write complete project documents, manage budgets, meet personal productivity targets, and mentor graduates and consultants.

What Our Client Is Looking For

• Qualifications: Tertiary degree in Urban & Regional Planning or a related discipline.
• Experience: 5+ years of urban and regional planning experience. Consulting experience is advantageous
• Core Expertise: Proven track record in structure planning, master planning, or precinct-scale strategic planning.
• Statutory Knowledge: Hands-on statutory planning expertise to seamlessly manage diverse property assessment and approval workflows.
• Victorian System: Strong understanding of the Victorian Planning System and Planning Schemes.
