About the Company

Crew Offshoring Solutions (Crew) is a BPO connecting outstanding offshore talent with high-calibre Australian clients. On a day-to-day basis, you will be supporting a leading structural engineering company based in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia. Led by a senior team with pedigrees from top-tier consultancies, the firm delivers responsive, collaborative and innovative structural solutions across a wide variety of project types and sizes, including commercial, residential, aged care, education, health, retail, heritage, and transport and infrastructure projects.

The firm sees structural engineering as both a technical and a creative discipline — ensuring the stability, safety and durability of buildings while collaborating closely with architects to resolve complex structural problems into beautiful and efficient outcomes. They value knowledge sharing, career progression and quality in everything they deliver, and they’re looking for a senior offshore engineer who brings that same standard to every project.

About the Role

The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for the analysis, design and documentation of structural elements and systems across a diverse portfolio of Australian building projects. Working closely with the firm’s Sydney and Brisbane based engineering team, this role covers concrete, steel and post-tensioned structures from concept and scheme design through to detailed design and construction support.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role. It requires strong technical judgement, proficiency in structural analysis software (particularly ETABS), and a solid working knowledge of the Australian market — including the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian engineering standards — with the ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with engineers, drafters and the wider project team.

A key component of this role is producing accurate, well-documented design work that can be efficiently reviewed and certified by the onshore team — clear calculations, clear mark-ups, and clear communication at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design of multi-storey concrete and steel buildings using ETABS and related tools.
  • Design reinforced concrete and post-tensioned slabs, beams, columns, walls and footings in accordance with Australian Standards (including AS 3600, and AS 1170).
  • Prepare and check structural calculations, design reports and supporting documentation for review and certification by the Sydney and Brisbane teams.
  • Develop structural schemes and options during concept design, including advice on framing, floor systems and post-tensioning viability.
  • Undertake lateral load analysis (wind and seismic) and serviceability checks, including deflection and vibration assessments.
  • Contribute to value engineering exercises, identifying efficient and buildable structural solutions.
  • Assist with building remediation, alteration and addition projects, including assessment of existing structures.
  • Prepare design sketches and mark-ups for the drafting team, and review structural drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate structural design with architectural and services documentation, flagging and resolving clashes early.
  • Respond to requests for information (RFIs) and assist with shop drawing reviews and construction phase queries.
  • Maintain organised project records, calculations and file structures in line with the firm’s QA systems.
  • Communicate progress, risks and design issues clearly and proactively to the Sydney team in daily/weekly check-ins.
  • Mentor and review the work of junior offshore engineers as the team grows.

Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree or PICE/PRC licensure highly regarded).
  • 6–10 years of proven experience in structural design of buildings, ideally within a consulting engineering environment.
  • 2-3 years Australian market experience are essential.
  • Advanced proficiency in ETABS is essential; experience with SAFE MICROSTRAN (OR SIMILAR), RAM Concept, RAPT or similar analysis and PT design software is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in post-tensioned concrete design, including slab and beam systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian market and regulatory environment, including the National Construction Code (NCC/BCA) and Australian engineering standards (AS 3600, 4100, AS 2870 and the AS 1170 series).
  • Prior experience delivering structural design on Australian projects is essential.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and reviewing drawings produced in Revit is an advantage.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to explain design decisions clearly to senior engineers.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a rigorous approach to checking your own work.
  • Self-motivated and reliable, with the maturity to manage deadlines and priorities independently in a remote setting.

What Success Looks Like - First 6 Months

  • Deliver assigned design packages and calculations on or ahead of agreed deadlines (target: 95% on-time delivery).
  • Maintain first-pass review quality — design work requires no more than minor mark-ups from the certifying engineer (target: <10% rework).
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian Standards and the firm’s QA procedures (zero non-conformances).
  • Respond to RFIs and internal design queries within one business day.
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and project records with 100% completion each week.
  • Proactively flag design risks, scope changes or delays to the Sydney team as soon as they are identified.

Job Benefits

  • Generous compensation package offered, including 13th month pay, penalty rates on swapped holidays, HMO (including for one dependent), employer government contributions and 20 leave credits.
  • Work remotely with a highly collaborative and supportive team.
  • Enjoy a culture that values professional development and innovation.
  • Be part of a leading Australian structural engineering company working on landmark projects.
  • Remote working equipment provided.
