Senior Structural Engineer

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer who wants to work in a dynamic market, contribute to high-profile projects, and be part of a team known for technical excellence, innovation and quality. We are also open to candidates already operating at Associate, Project Director or Technical Director level.

Based in Auckland, you will be part of a strong and growing team delivering work across a diverse range of sectors and project types. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex structural projects, strengthen client relationships, and work closely with respected technical leaders on projects that help shape the built environment of New Zealand's largest city.

At Holmes, you will join a well-established consultancy with a long history of delivering technically demanding and high-impact engineering outcomes. In Auckland, that means working in a fast-moving and varied project environment, with opportunities to contribute across new developments, existing buildings, major upgrades and complex structural challenges.

What you'll do

• Lead the delivery of complex structural engineering projects from concept through to completion
• Provide technical direction across a broad range of structural design work
• Build and maintain strong client relationships across the Auckland market
• Contribute to repeat business, new opportunities and the continued growth of Holmes in Auckland
• Take ownership of project outcomes, including quality, programme, commercial performance and delivery
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, clients and project partners to solve technically challenging problems
• Mentor and support developing engineers, helping build capability across the team

What you'll bring
You will bring strong structural engineering experience, including seismic design experience, across a range of project types, along with the technical judgement and commercial awareness needed to lead projects successfully. You will have proven experience delivering high-quality structural design solutions, managing competing project demands, and building trusted relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.

You will be confident operating in a client-facing role and comfortable leading both technical delivery and project conversations. You will enjoy working as part of a collaborative team, while also taking initiative and ownership in your work. Experience mentoring or leading engineers will be important, as will a genuine interest in contributing to the success and growth of the Auckland team.
