SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Fundisani Construction and Projects (Pty) Ltd is seeking a highly experienced and professionally qualified Senior Structural Engineer to join our team for upcoming structural and civil engineering projects.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with specialisation/focus in Structural Engineering, or a higher relevant qualification.
• Minimum 10 years’ professional experience in structural engineering.
• Valid ECSA Professional Registration – preferably Pr Eng.
• Demonstrable experience in the design, assessment and construction supervision of structural steel and reinforced-concrete structures.
• Strong knowledge of applicable SANS standards, structural design codes and South African construction regulations.

Required Project Experience

Candidates must demonstrate relevant experience in:

• Road and railway bridges
• Steel pedestrian bridges / pedestrian overbridges
• Structural steelwork
• Carports and steel canopies
• Reinforced-concrete structures
• Foundations and structural support systems
• Structural rehabilitation and strengthening works

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Structural analysis, modelling and design.
• Preparation and review of structural calculations.
• Design of steel and reinforced-concrete structural elements.
• Preparation and review of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Bridge and pedestrian bridge structural design.
• Design of foundations, connections and supporting structures.
• Structural inspections and condition assessments.
• Review of fabrication/shop drawings.
• Providing technical support during fabrication, erection and construction.
• Conducting site inspections and resolving structural engineering issues.
• Ensuring designs comply with ECSA requirements, relevant SANS standards and project specifications.
• Signing off/certifying engineering designs and documentation where professionally authorised to do so.

Experience Advantage

Previous involvement in railway pedestrian overbridges, road bridges, steel bridge structures and large structural-steel projects will be a strong advantage.
