Senior Structural Engineer (SSE)

HFA Structural is growing, and we’re looking for a Senior Structural Engineer (SSE) to join our team and lead structural engineering projects from design through construction.

In this role, you’ll serve as a technical leader and Engineer of Record (EOR) , overseeing project teams, mentoring engineers and designers, and delivering high-quality structural solutions across a variety of building types and project scopes.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and supervise structural engineering teams through all phases of design and construction.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and provide final technical and quality control review.
• Manage the analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, wood, cold-formed steel, and masonry structures.
• Work closely with Structural Team Leads, Architects, Engineers, and clients to develop practical, high-quality solutions.
• Lead projects ranging from ground-up construction and renovations to one-off, prototypical, and distressed/damaged structure assessments .
• Mentor and develop junior and experienced engineers and designers.
• Communicate directly with clients and support proposals and technical communications as needed.
• Help drive quality, constructability, and engineering excellence across projects.

What We’re Looking For

• 10–20 years of comprehensive structural engineering experience , including project and team leadership.
• Active Structural Engineer (SE) license ; ability to obtain an SE license in California preferred.
• Experience managing projects, staff, clients, and serving as EOR.
• Strong technical expertise across multiple structural systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, quality mindset, and communication skills.
• A collaborative leadership style and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment .
• NCEES Record registration is a plus.
• Willingness to obtain licensure in states where HFA performs work.
