About OCSC Cork
OCSC (Cork) Ltd has provided forward-thinking engineering advice to architects and clients in Cork for over 15 years. We are part of O’Connor Sutton Cronin, an international multidisciplinary consulting engineering practice with more than 35 years’ experience and offices across Ireland and the UK. Our Cork team is known for combining creativity, collaboration and technical rigour to deliver efficient, elegant and buildable solutions.
The Role
You will lead and support structural engineering commissions from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, construction and completion. You will work closely with clients, architects, contractors and OCSC’s wider multidisciplinary team to develop solutions that respond to the architectural concept, programme, budget and construction requirements of each project.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and delivery of building projects across concept, planning, detailed design and construction stages.
- Prepare and check structural calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and technical submissions.
- Design in a range of materials, including structural steel, reinforced and precast concrete, masonry and timber.
- Coordinate structural designs within BIM-led, multidisciplinary project environments.
- Attend and contribute to client, design-team and site meetings; provide clear technical advice throughout construction.
- Manage assigned project deliverables, programme requirements, quality and commercial performance.
- Support, mentor and review the work of graduate engineers and technicians.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, architects, contractors and colleagues, while contributing to the continued growth of the Cork office.
Requirements:
- Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status, ideally with Engineers Ireland and/or the Institution of Structural Engineers.
- At least 7 years’ post-graduate experience in structural engineering design within a consulting engineering environment.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering building projects through design and construction.
- Strong knowledge of relevant Eurocodes and Irish/UK design standards.
- Competence in structural analysis and design software, together with experience of BIM/Revit coordination.
- Excellent communication, organisation and client-facing skills.
- A collaborative, proactive and solution-focused approach, with the confidence to take responsibility for project delivery.
