Our Restoration & Renewal practice investigates existing buildings’ envelope problems and provides evidence-based solutions. We access the exterior building envelope to perform observations utilizing the boom lift and suspended scaffold access. We prepare drawings and specifications for the required roof and façade repairs and provide technical support during the bid and construction phases, with frequent site visits to review the quality of work and conformance with contract documents, as well as special inspections. We assist property managers, building owners, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues. The majority of our projects involve historic buildings and structures, but we also assist with contemporary buildings.

Your Role As a Senior Structural Engineer in our Restoration & Renewal Practice, you’ll take ownership of technically challenging assessments, designs, and repairs for existing structures, applying advanced engineering principles to complex restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse projects. You’ll lead small and mid-size projects as well as selected components of larger, high-profile structures, exercising sound judgment, proposing innovative solutions, mentoring junior staff, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and helping guide project execution. This role provides exposure to clients and elements of project management while offering the opportunity to deepen technical expertise, grow leadership capabilities, expand project responsibilities, and make a tangible impact on the longevity, safety, and performance of existing buildings.

What You’ll Do

• Lead structural evaluations, developing advanced solutions for existing building systems.
• Review and produce technical reports, drawings, and recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns on project tasks, technical standards, and engineering judgment.
• Coordinate closely with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and technical decision-making.
• Support ongoing learning and professional development for yourself and your team.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on repair, renovation, or rehabilitation.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and documentation tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, RISA‑3D, PCA software, Revit, or AutoCAD.
• Strong problem-solving, judgment, and collaborative skills.
• Initiative to mentor others and contribute to technical excellence.

Compensation The rate for this position generally is $87,000 - $100,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee’s pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
