Senior Structural Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of structural engineering solutions in Dartford.

In this role, you will work closely with project teams, clients and other engineering disciplines to translate technical requirements into safe, practical and buildable structural designs. You will play a key role in ensuring designs are accurately developed, properly coordinated and delivered in line with project specifications, relevant standards and construction requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong structural engineering professional with project management experience who can take ownership of engineering tasks, solve complex technical challenges and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review and deliver structural system designs, engineering calculations and technical documentation.
• Undertake structural analysis and design to ensure solutions are safe, efficient and fit for purpose.
• Manage project tasks, coordinate workloads and monitor progress against agreed deadlines.
• Coordinate with colleagues, clients, contractors and other engineering disciplines to ensure designs are aligned with project requirements.
• Produce, review and check structural drawings and 3D models using appropriate CAD software.
• Prepare and maintain accurate technical reports, design calculations, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Support construction activities by responding to technical queries, resolving design issues and providing engineering guidance.
• Identify and address technical challenges, ensuring proposed solutions are practical, compliant and buildable.
• Ensure structural designs meet relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, building regulations and applicable health and safety requirements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues, contributing to effective project delivery and quality assurance.

Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience in structural engineering, including structural system design and analysis.
• Experience managing engineering projects, coordinating technical activities and meeting project deadlines.
• Proficiency in CAD software for producing and reviewing engineering drawings and models.
• Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit or MicroStation.
• Knowledge of Mathcad for engineering calculations would be advantageous.
• Practical construction experience and an understanding of how structural designs are implemented on site.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and engineering requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• A relevant degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

Chartered Engineer status or membership of a relevant professional engineering institution would be advantageous.
