Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer / Project Manager to lead the structural design and delivery of building projects from initial design through construction.

This position is intended for a licensed Professional Engineer with significant building-structures consulting experience . The successful candidate will serve as the technical and project lead on complex assignments, oversee structural design and construction-document production, perform QA/QC reviews, coordinate with clients and architects, and mentor structural engineering staff.

This is not a general construction project-management position. Candidates should have a strong technical foundation in the analysis and design of building structures and experience taking professional responsibility for structural engineering deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering projects from concept and design development through construction.
• Serve as Engineer of Record on assigned projects, including larger and technically complex building projects.
• Direct the structural analysis and design of steel, concrete and other building structural systems.
• Oversee preparation and production of structural drawings, calculations, specifications and construction documents.
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of structural designs and engineering documentation.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing and technical deliverables.
• Coordinate closely with architects, contractors, owners and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to structural engineers and designers.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes and engineering standards, including IBC, AISC and ACI .
• Prepare structural engineering fee proposals and support project pursuits.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to repeat and new business opportunities.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations and business-development activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering , with an emphasis in structures.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Approximately 10+ years of structural engineering design experience , primarily involving building structures.
• Significant experience within a structural or multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment .
• Demonstrated experience leading structural projects and coordinating multiple concurrent assignments.
• Experience taking technical responsibility for structural engineering deliverables and/or serving as Engineer of Record.
• Strong experience reviewing and producing construction documents.
• Hands-on knowledge of structural building systems and applicable design codes.
• Experience managing project scope, schedules, engineering fees and budgets.
• Strong client-facing communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor engineers through the design and production process.

Technical Experience

Candidates should have strong working knowledge of:

• Structural analysis and design of building structures
• Steel and reinforced-concrete design
• IBC
• AISC
• ACI
• Structural calculations and design documentation
• Construction-document development
• Structural QA/QC
• Revit
• RAM Structural System, RISA or comparable structural-analysis/design software

Preferred Qualifications

• Texas PE license or ability to obtain Texas licensure.
• Master's degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering.
• Structural Engineer ( SE ) license.
• Experience leading large or complex commercial, institutional, residential, healthcare, education or similar building projects.
• Experience preparing structural fee proposals and participating in business development.
• Existing relationships with architects, developers, owners or other building-industry clients.

Who This Role Is Best Suited For

This opportunity is particularly relevant for an experienced Structural Project Manager, Senior Structural Engineer, Structural Engineering Project Manager, Associate Structural Engineer or Senior Associate who is ready to take broader responsibility for technical delivery, clients, teams and projects.

Candidates whose experience is primarily in roadway, bridge, transportation, civil/site, construction management or non-structural project management without substantial building structural-design experience are unlikely to be a fit.
