Our disciplines run side by side: structural and civil engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, ground survey, point cloud survey, fabrication drawings, and project and construction management. A substantial part of our engineering and drafting team works with us from the Philippines. They sit inside the same discipline teams, the same daily meetings and the same technical review chain as our Australian engineers, rather than as a separate outsourced group.

The Opportunity

We are appointing a Senior Structural Engineer to strengthen the technical depth of our residential discipline, our largest-volume stream. This is a senior design role with a deliberate emphasis on checking and independent review. Alongside your own design work you will carry a share of the review load that sits at the centre of our quality system.

For the right person there is a defined path to a Technical Lead appointment within the residential structural discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Residential Structural Engineering

• Carry out residential structural design and analysis to the relevant Australian Standards (AS 1684, AS 2870, AS 1170, AS 4100, AS 3600).
• Work across volume housing, medium density and light gauge steel framing systems.
• Produce and check structural designs, drawings and calculations for residential projects.
• Work with architects, builders and contractors to deliver cohesive residential outcomes.

Checking & Independent Review

• Perform independent review of design deliverables produced by other engineers and drafters.
• Run the QA review gate on your own deliverables per the Process Manual QA chain.
• Record review outcomes as required by the QA framework.
• Contribute to root-cause review of rework and to improving first-pass approval rates.

Technical Depth & Development

• Support and mentor less experienced engineers and drafters.
• Contribute to Cresco internal design standards and typical details.
• Contribute to the development of efficient and automated design processes.

Standards & Compliance

• Apply the relevant Australian Standards and contribute to Cresco internal design standards and the QA framework.
• Uphold company quality, safety and environmental standards.

About You

Essential

• Bachelor degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or an equivalent accredited qualification recognised in Australia.
• Seven or more years' experience as a structural engineer, including residential work.
• Demonstrated experience checking and reviewing the design work of other engineers or drafters.
• Working knowledge of the residential structural Australian Standards (AS 1684, AS 2870, AS 1170, AS 4100, AS 3600).
• Experience with structural analysis software such as Space Gass, IDEA StatiCa, Structural Toolkit or SkyCiv.
• Sound engineering judgement, and the confidence to raise an issue rather than pass it on.
• Strong written and verbal English for design documentation and client correspondence.
• A reliable home working environment and internet connection.

Desirable (Not Compulsory)

• Experience on Australian residential projects.
• Chartered status (CPEng) with Engineers Australia, or National Engineering Register listing.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Tekla Structures or Inventor.
• Knowledge of computer programming or scripting fundamentals.

Employment & Remuneration

Full-time and remote, as part of Cresco's offshore team on the standard remote engagement terms. The remuneration range for this position is PHP 100,000 to PHP 140,000 per month, with the position in the range negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
