SENIOR SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER

An international manufacturing and engineering solutions provider is expanding its supplier quality function in Southeast Asia to support its growing manufacturing client base. The business operates across multiple sites in the region and serves global OEM and contract manufacturing customers.

Thailand (with travel across Asia) | Reports to: Quality Director

ROLE PURPOSE

This is a hands-on, supplier-facing role responsible for owning the end-to-end supplier quality process, from First Article Inspection through PPAP approval and corrective action closure. The business needs someone assertive and technically deep who drives suppliers to resolution rather than reporting on status alone, covering the Thailand and China supplier base with regular travel across Asia.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supplier Quality & PPAP Management

• Conduct First Article Inspection (FAI) reviews against engineering requirements
• Review, coach, and approve supplier PPAP submissions to ensure compliance with automotive quality standards
• Track BOM PPAP status end-to-end and drive timely completion across the supplier base
• Support new product launches by managing the supplier PPAP timeline and deliverables

Root Cause & Corrective Action

• Lead root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventative measure activities with suppliers
• Manage sorting, containment, and issue escalation when quality failures occur
• Work directly with suppliers to improve quality performance, accountability, and execution discipline

Supplier Development & Influence

• Act as the primary quality interface with suppliers across Thailand and China
• Drive continuous improvement and process discipline at supplier sites through hands-on engagement
• Travel regularly across Asia to conduct audits, reviews, and supplier development activities

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field
• Experience: 10-15 years in supplier quality engineering or automotive manufacturing quality
• Technical: PPAP, APQP, root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone), First Article Inspection, automotive quality management systems (IATF 16949 preferred)
• Leadership: Assertive communicator able to influence suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders; comfortable operating independently in the field
• Certifications: CQE, Six Sigma, or IATF 16949 Lead Auditor preferred
• Industry: Automotive manufacturing; experience with electronics and housings is a plus; familiarity with Asian supplier environments, particularly Thailand
