At Balm Heroes Care Limited, we’re looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Senior Support Worker to join our growing team in St Austell, Cornwall!
We’re building something special — a care service where people matter, staff are valued, and every day brings an opportunity to change someone’s life for the better. If you have a passion for providing outstanding care, supporting your colleagues and helping people achieve their full potential, we want to hear from YOU!
WHY JOIN BALM HEROES CARE?
Be part of something new! Join our growing team as we prepare to open two care homes supporting young people and adults.
Make a meaningful difference. Help create a safe, supportive and positive environment where every individual is respected, valued and encouraged to thrive.
Grow your career. Develop your leadership skills, build your experience and play an important role in delivering high-quality care.
Lead by example. Inspire colleagues, support new team members and help create a workplace where compassion, teamwork and professionalism come first.
Help shape our service. Bring your ideas, experience and enthusiasm to a growing organisation that wants to make a genuine difference.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our service, supporting individuals to live fulfilling lives while helping the team deliver safe, person-centred care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing outstanding, person-centred support tailored to individual needs, preferences and aspirations.
- Leading by example and promoting the highest standards of care and professionalism.
- Supporting, guiding and mentoring Support Workers, including new starters.
- Helping maintain a safe, positive and inclusive environment.
- Promoting independence, dignity, choice, privacy and respect at all times.
- Supporting individuals with daily living, personal development and meaningful activities.
- Following safeguarding procedures and recognising and reporting concerns appropriately.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring care plans and risk assessments are followed.
- Supporting medication procedures in line with training, competence and company policies.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues, families and other professionals.
- Contributing to quality improvement and helping ensure the service meets its regulatory responsibilities.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We’re looking for someone who is more than just experienced in care — we want someone who genuinely cares about people and takes pride in making a difference.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working in health and social care, with the confidence to take on senior responsibilities.
- Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
- A good understanding of safeguarding, person-centred care, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, capacity assessments and best-interest decision-making, where relevant to the role.
- The ability to support, motivate and guide colleagues.
- A positive, flexible and proactive approach to your work.
- The confidence to respond appropriately to challenging situations and escalate concerns.
- A genuine commitment to dignity, independence, equality and inclusion.
A relevant Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care is desirable, alongside a willingness to undertake further training and professional development.
Most importantly, you must have the compassion, integrity and commitment to help us deliver care we can all be proud of.
HELP US BUILD SOMETHING AMAZING!
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing care provider at an important stage of its development. You won’t simply be filling a position — you’ll be helping establish the standards, culture and values that shape our service from the very beginning.
