Senior Survey Project Manager - Commercial

Overview Job Description: This position provides oversight and leadership for land surveying projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, budget adherence, and the highest quality of deliverables. This role manages complex and high-profile projects while mentoring and developing Survey Department staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate the work of the local survey department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations.
• Provide expert guidance and direction to Survey Technicians, Field Crews, and Project Managers on complex and high-profile projects.
• Ensure compliance with state-specific regulatory rules and regulations governing professional land surveying.
• Develop and review detailed project proposals, including resource allocation, timelines, and budgets.
• Manage and oversee project budgets, invoicing, and financial performance for large-scale or complex projects.
• Perform advanced quality control reviews of drawings, legal descriptions, and other deliverables prepared by team members.
• Lead the development and implementation of corporate QA/QC guidelines and principles.
• Manage, train, and mentor members of the Survey Department, focusing on career development and technical growth.
• Lead initiatives to identify and implement innovative processes, tools, and technologies to enhance department efficiency and accuracy.
• Resolve survey issues or challenges, providing expert-level solutions and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Registered as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in the state of employment.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience as a surveyor.
• At least 5 years of previous supervisory experience, leading and managing survey teams.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions independently in a fast-paced and dynamic production environment.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, manage performance, and resolve personnel issues effectively.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
• Dependable, reliable, and capable of overseeing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
• Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills to address and resolve the most complex survey challenges.
• Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with overtime as needed.
