Senior Systems Analyst or Technical BA - 11 Month Contract

Location: Galway - Hybrid

Contract: 11 months

Day Rate: €400-€480 per day

We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Analyst to join a high-performing technology team supporting a major strategic programme within the financial services sector.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting beneath the detail of business requirements, understanding the "why" behind the requirement , and translating complex business needs into clear, actionable technical solutions.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, Product Managers, Developers, QA and fellow Analysts to break requirements down into well-defined user stories, support backlog management and ensure solutions are delivered to a high standard.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Working closely with business stakeholders and Product Managers to understand business drivers, requirements and priorities.
• Analysing and documenting business and functional requirements through appropriate artefacts including process flows, use cases and requirements documentation.
• Breaking complex requirements into clear, actionable user stories with defined business value and acceptance criteria.
• Working with development and technology teams to ensure requirements are technically understood and achievable.
• Supporting quarterly planning, backlog management and delivery planning.
• Managing risks, dependencies and key delivery checkpoints.
• Leading story refinement sessions and ensuring stories are sufficiently detailed and ready for sprint planning.
• Defining acceptance tests with the delivery team and applying Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) principles where appropriate.
• Taking ownership of user story sign-off and ensuring delivered functionality meets agreed requirements.
• Supporting manual and end-to-end testing where automation is not available.
• Using data and technical investigation to validate requirements, troubleshoot issues and support analysis.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and the value delivered to business stakeholders.
• Working collaboratively within a global Agile/Scrum environment.

Technical & Analytical Skills

We are looking for someone who can operate comfortably between business and technology teams and who is not afraid to get into the technical detail.

Experience with some or all of the following would be highly beneficial:

• Jira and Confluence
• SQL / SQL Developer for data analysis and validation
• Insomnia or similar API testing tools
• Kafka / Offset Explorer
• Datadog or similar monitoring/debugging tools
• Understanding of application data models and software architecture
• REST APIs and integration concepts
• User story development and backlog management
• Acceptance criteria and acceptance testing
• Manual and/or automated testing
• Agile/Scrum methodologies

You should also be comfortable reading and understanding code where required to support analysis, troubleshooting and investigation, even if you are not a developer.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• 5+ years' experience working as a Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst or similar role .
• A strong BA/Systems Analysis mindset with excellent requirements analysis skills.
• Proven experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment .
• Strong experience writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Experience working closely with Product Managers, Developers and QA teams.
• A good understanding of technology, applications and software architecture.
• A naturally curious approach and the confidence to ask questions and challenge assumptions .
• A strong quality/QA mindset and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• The ability to work effectively with distributed/global teams.
• A proactive, delivery-focused approach and the ability to quickly get up to speed in a complex environment.

Desirable

• Experience within financial services, investment management or wealth management .
• Experience working with account-related platforms or financial products.
• Experience with technical stories and complex system integrations.
• Experience with end-to-end testing and production support.
• Familiarity with modern AI tools and their application within Systems Analysis .
• Degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related discipline.
