What they need

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design, production integration, and continuous improvement of our precision metrology and measuring instrumentation (spanning trusted product lines such as Systech, Ray-Ran, TQC-Sheen, and Steinfurth).

In this cross-functional position, you will have a broad remit bridging between design engineering, production, and technical service. You will be hands-on with complex electro-mechanical systems—ranging from material property testing and coating inspection to precision gas analysis instrumentation—ensuring high reliability, regulatory compliance, and seamless transition into manufacturing.

The job holder is expected to uphold Company values, support high standards of quality, and ensure compliance with applicable legislation.

Essential Job Functions

System Design, R&D & NPI

  • Work on the electro-mechanical system integration, prototyping, and testing for New Product Introductions (NPI).
  • Ensure all system designs comply with international regulatory standards, including CE marking (e.g., EMC, ENS61010 and LVD directives).
  • Contribute to competitor analysis and market requirements to drive innovative feature development and contribute to long-term product roadmaps.
  • Author comprehensive technical documentation including product specifications, risk assessments, FMEA, design and test reports.

Production Support & Manufacturing Integration

  • Serve as the on-site technical escalation point for production, diagnosing complex hardware and electronic faults down to the component level.
  • Design and implement automated test systems and calibration fixtures to optimize manufacturing efficiency and product yield.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to refine build processes, maintain quality standards, and update production documentation.

Product Sustainment

  • Identify and drive design improvements to enhance product reliability, streamline manufacturing costs, and maintain high field performance.
  • Ensure adherence to internal Engineering Change Notes (ECNs) procedure as required by obsolescence and other operational issues.
  • Support the global Service team by providing tier-3 technical support for critical customer issues and developing/delivering technical training.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience

Essential Experience & Technical Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • PCB Design: KiCAD, AutoCAD or similar tools
  • Professional Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in electro-mechanical systems design, integration, failure analysis, and troubleshooting within precision instrumentation or metrology (testing material properties, coatings, or gas analysis).
  • Compliance & Standards: Hands-on experience designing for regulatory compliance (CE marking, EMC/LVD), FMEA and relevant industry standards.
  • Component-Level Diagnostics: Exceptional practical knowledge of PCBs, electronic schematics, wiring harnesses, sensors, mass flow controllers/meters, heaters, motors, switches, and fluidics/plumbing.
  • Testing & Metrology: Proven track record with calibration, automated test development, and data analysis software to diagnose performance anomalies.

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to embedded electronics (MCU architecture, I2C, SPI protocols) and firmware/software management.

Personal Attributes

  • Problem Solver: Highly analytical with a methodical approach to component-level troubleshooting.
  • Adaptable & Proactive: Thrives in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborator & Communicator: Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable cross-collaborating across R&D, production and service teams.
  • Travel: Willingness to undertake occasional travel for technical support or supplier/site visits as required.
