What they need
Senior Technical Designer, Women’s
LayLo (US office of Padma Textiles) | Los Angeles, CA (Downtown, Hybrid) | Full Time
About Us
Padma Textiles is a global fashion design and manufacturing company founded in 1995. We have design offices in Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, Los Angeles and Treviso, and we manufacture in Bangladesh, India, China, Vietnam, Egypt, Morocco, Portugal and Turkey. LayLo, our US office in Downtown LA, holds apparel licenses for well-known American brands. We develop collections for department store, club and off-price retail partners.
We are a small, fast-moving team building the US business from the ground up. This role sits at the center of how our product comes to life.
The Role
As our Senior Technical Designer, you will own the technical design process for our women’s collections, from first proto through top of production. You’ll be our in-house expert on fit, pattern and construction. You’ll work hand in hand with design, sourcing and production in LA, and with our development teams and factory partners overseas.
This is a hands-on role for someone who moves quickly, solves problems independently and is excited to help build a business from the start. You’ll report to the COO and partner daily with the Director of Design and the Sr. Manager, Sourcing & Production.
What You’ll Do
Build and maintain tech packs from design sketches through production, with clear, accurate specs, construction details, BOMs and grading
Lead fittings from initial proto through TOP. Identify fit and construction issues and give clear, actionable corrections, pinning and marking up samples as needed
Develop and maintain women’s fit standards, size specs, grade rules and tolerances so fit stays consistent season to season
Use CLO3D to develop and review styles digitally, partnering with overseas teams to reduce physical sample rounds and speed up approvals
Communicate fit comments, revised specs and pattern corrections to overseas offices and factories, then track every sample until it is approved
Review and correct factory patterns to make sure they match the design intent and are ready for production
Flag construction, quality and costing risks early, and recommend production-friendly alternatives that protect the look
Manage multiple seasons at once, hitting calendar milestones for development, fit approvals and production
Help build the US technical design function as we grow, including processes, templates and a fit library
Categories
Women’s woven tops, knit tops, sweaters, bottoms, dresses, jackets, and outerwear with a growing focus on tailored and dressier pieces.

Experience working remotely with factories in Asia, across time zones and language barriers

Self-directed, with sound judgment and the confidence to own decisions in a lean team
Genuine dedication to long-term growth. You’re energized by getting a business off the ground and want to grow with it
Clear, direct communicator who works well with design, sourcing and production
