The role
This is primarily a technical design role, working across mechanical and hydraulic engineering projects. You’ll develop and review designs, carry out hydraulic and mechanical calculations, size pipework and pumps, specify equipment and produce clear engineering documentation. Your work will cover industrial plumbing, process pipework, winery glycol and chiller systems, filtration, wastewater and other mechanical services.

You’ll work closely with the Technical Manager, Project Managers, Estimators, suppliers and site teams to make sure designs are practical, safe and fit for purpose. You’ll also provide technical support during installation, help resolve engineering challenges, assist with commissioning and identify opportunities to improve system performance, energy efficiency and reliability. This is a hands-on technical position rather than an operations management or sales role.  

What you’ll bring

• A mechanical, hydraulic or process engineering qualification, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong experience in mechanical or hydraulic engineering design
• Good knowledge of pipe sizing, hydraulic calculations, flow and pressure losses, and pump selection
• Experience with industrial pipework, plumbing, mechanical equipment and ideally refrigeration or heat pump systems
• Ability to interpret drawings, prepare technical documentation and work through design problems
• Confidence working with Project Managers, contractors, suppliers and site teams
• A practical approach, good attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety

Winery, glycol and chiller systems, wastewater or filtration experience would be a bonus, along with CAD or 3D design software and CPEng status or a willingness to work towards it.
