Senior Technical Manager

Role Purpose

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Technical Manager to lead the design and construction phases of our mission-critical data center projects. With a deep specialization in electrical engineering and over two decades of experience, the successful candidate will be the technical authority ensuring that our data centers are built to the highest global standards of reliability, scalability, and efficiency. You will oversee the full project lifecycle from conceptual design and engineering blueprints to final commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership in Design & Engineering

• Lead Design Authority: Drive the conceptual and detailed engineering design for high-tier data centers, ensuring optimal layout, power density, and redundancy.
• Electrical Engineering Mastery: Take full ownership of the electrical infrastructure design, including High Voltage (HV) substations, Medium Voltage (MV) distribution, UPS systems, backup generators, and STS/ATS switching.
• Multidisciplinary Integration: Provide technical oversight and guidance on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) integration, specifically focusing on Cooling/HVAC (thermal management) and Fire Protection (early warning and suppression systems).
• Standard Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with international standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942) and local HK Building Department/Fire Services Department regulations.

2. Global Coordination & Collaboration

• Cross-Border Synergy: Act as the primary technical liaison between the Hong Kong office and colleagues/engineering teams at other country sites.
• Standardization: Coordinate with international site managers to ensure consistency in design standards and operational protocols across different regions.
• Knowledge Transfer: Lead technical synchronization meetings with global counterparts to share best practices and resolve complex engineering challenges collaboratively.

3. Construction & Project Oversight

• Build Quality Control: Oversee the construction phase to ensure that the physical build strictly adheres to the approved technical specifications.
• Vendor & Consultant Management: Lead the selection and management of specialist consultants and contractors.
• Commissioning (Cx): Lead the rigorous Integrated Systems Testing (IST) to verify that all redundant systems function perfectly under failover scenarios.

4. Strategic Advisory & Risk Management

• Technical Due Diligence: Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new site acquisitions.
• Cost Optimization: Balance high-availability requirements with CAPEX optimization without compromising reliability.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 20 years of proven experience in the design and construction of large-scale Data Centers.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or relevant) from a recognized university.
• Professional Qualification: HKIE (Hong Kong Institution of Engineers) membership/license is highly preferred. Registered Professional Engineer (RPE) is a significant advantage.
• Technical Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of power distribution and electrical redundancy; strong working knowledge of Data Center HVAC and Fire Protection.
• Communication: Proven ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across different geographical locations and time zones.
• Language: Fluency in English and Cantonese.
