Senior Technical Project Manager

About the role

We are looking for a highly organised, proactive and technically capable Senior Technical Project Manager to manage the successful delivery of technology projects for our clients.

The role will focus primarily on delivering IT infrastructure, cloud, Microsoft technologies, networking and cybersecurity projects. It will also include elements of ongoing service delivery management for selected clients.

We are looking for someone who takes genuine ownership, communicates exceptionally well, anticipates problems and consistently gets things done.

This is a client-facing delivery role rather than a hands-on technical engineering position. However, a solid understanding of IT technologies, technical project delivery and the wider technology landscape is essential.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver technical projects from initiation through to successful completion.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, task allocations and deliverables.
• Manage task dependencies, prerequisites, resources and project timelines, using tools such as Gantt charts and project tracking systems.
• Maintain project documentation, including risk registers, issue logs, action trackers and status reports.
• Coordinate internal technical teams, external suppliers and client stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.
• Proactively identify risks, resolve blockers, manage escalations and keep projects progressing.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high standards of quality, communication and organisation.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients throughout project delivery.
• Build strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness and professionalism.
• Support the ongoing management of selected client services, including service performance, reporting, reviews and escalations.

About you

• Proven experience managing and delivering technical IT projects.
• Good working knowledge of recognised project management frameworks and methodologies, such as PRINCE2 and Agile.
• Strong practical understanding of project planning, task allocation, scheduling, dependencies, milestones, resource coordination and risk management.
• Experience using project management tools to track progress, manage responsibilities and maintain visibility across multiple projects.
• Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Good understanding of IT infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Azure, cloud services, networking and cybersecurity technologies.
• Ability to understand technical requirements, engage confidently with engineers and translate technical information into clear client communications.
• Experience delivering projects within an IT consultancy, technology services provider or Managed Service Provider (MSP) would be particularly beneficial.
• Highly computer literate and confident working within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Teams, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint and relevant project planning and collaboration tools.
• Good awareness of modern AI technologies and their practical application in the workplace.
