Senior Technical Sales in China
BASIS: Full-time
LOCATION: Flexible: Qingyuan office or home office in China
Client Overview
Client is a forefront solution provider for marine, offshore, wind power and demanding industrial applications. They designs and manufactures customized Intake Filtration Systems to protect downstream HVAC equipment, fans, coolers, compressors, turbines and other critical components against erosion, corrosion and performance loss.
The Role
This is a key business-development and technical-sales position for the Chinese market. You will act as the technical-commercial interface between Chinese customers and Client’s European management and engineering teams. The role combines project identification, customer development, technical clarification, specification work, quotation preparation and commercial follow-up through to contract award.
Direct experience with Intake Filtration Systems is an advantage, but not mandatory. We are equally interested in candidates from transferable technical industries who can demonstrate strong project-sales ability, learning agility, accurate bilingual technical communication and a genuine long-term commitment to the marine and offshore market.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify new projects at an early stage and develop opportunities across marine, shipbuilding, offshore, wind power, power generation and industrial applications.
- Map the complete stakeholder and decision-making structure, including owners/operators, design institutes, shipyards, EPC contractors, OEMs, system integrators, procurement departments and end users.
- Build and maintain relationships with existing and new customers through direct sales, strategic channels, technical meetings and regular site visits.
- Clarify the customer’s real operating requirements, including requirements that are incomplete, inconsistent or communicated only during technical discussions.
- Conduct technical discussions in Chinese and communicate customer requirements, open points, risks and decisions accurately and clearly in English to company management and engineering.
- Present the technical and commercial value of company solutions and support product specification in project documents, vendor lists and makers’ lists.
- Coordinate technical proposals, quotations and technical agreements together with company engineering and management.
- Follow opportunities systematically from first project information through technical clarification, tendering, commercial negotiation and contract award.
- Maintain a transparent opportunity pipeline, document customer visits and project progress, and provide reliable forecasts and next-action plans.
- Represent company at customer meetings, design institutes, trade fairs, conferences and other relevant market-development events.
- Travel frequently within China for customer visits, project development and industry networking.
What We Expect of You
- Essential requirements:
- At least five years of customer-facing experience in technical B2B project sales, application engineering, business development or a comparable role involving engineered products or systems.
- Experience with long sales cycles, technical proposals, tender processes and multi-stakeholder project environments.
- Professional English at minimum B2 level; C1 is preferred. You must be able to conduct technical discussions, write clear technical emails and accurately relay Chinese customer requirements in English.
- Native or near-native Mandarin. Cantonese is an advantage.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications, identify missing information, ask precise questions and coordinate technical solutions with engineering teams.
- Strong learning ability, disciplined follow-up, persistence and a proactive “hunter” mindset.
- High level of self-management, reliability and transparency, especially when working from a home office.
- Willingness to travel frequently and to build a long-term career in the marine, offshore and filtration system business.
- Relevant backgrounds may include:
- HVAC, air handling, ventilation, industrial filtration, fans, blowers, compressors, turbines, power equipment, process equipment, railway HVAC or other engineered industrial systems.
- Mechanical, thermal, energy, HVAC, marine, process, electrical or automation engineering. Equivalent practical technical experience will also be considered.
- Experience with design institutes, EPC contractors, OEMs, vendor registration, makers’ lists, shipyards or international project business is highly desirable.
- Direct marine, offshore, shipbuilding or wind-power experience is preferred, but not mandatory where strong transferable experience and clear long-term commitment can be demonstrated.
