Microsoft 365 Data Migration Specialist 12 Month Contract

DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Data Migration Specialist to support a large-scale Microsoft 365 transformation program within a government environment.

This senior technical role will be responsible for configuring, administering and supporting the technology used to undertake complex data migrations to Microsoft 365. You will coordinate migration activities, establish repeatable processes, troubleshoot technical issues and work closely with project teams and stakeholders to achieve successful migration outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and utilise enterprise migration tools such as ShareGate, SharePoint Migration Manager or similar technologies.
• Migrate data from on-premises file shares and file servers to Microsoft 365.
• Undertake pre-migration assessments covering data quality, permissions, path lengths and unsupported files.
• Plan and coordinate migration waves and migration batches.
• Develop PowerShell scripts to automate routine administration and migration activities.
• Use Microsoft Graph, APIs and automation techniques relevant to Microsoft 365 migrations.
• Perform migration validation, reconciliation and data integrity checks.
• Diagnose and resolve migration failures, permission issues and data exceptions.
• Produce migration reports, dashboards and status updates.
• Develop technical documentation, procedures, knowledge articles and support materials.

About You

• Strong hands-on experience with ShareGate, SharePoint Migration Manager or similar enterprise migration tools.
• Strong technical knowledge of SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and Microsoft 365.
• Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale or enterprise data migrations.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capability.
• Knowledge of NTFS, SharePoint and Microsoft 365 permissions and access controls.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, user/group management and permission mapping.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, project staff and stakeholders.

Desirable

• Experience within large government, education or enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 rollout or transformation programs.
• Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
• Experience supporting SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams administration.
