Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Tax Advisor to join our Tax Team and play an important role in delivering high-quality technical tax advice to Boyce clients and team members. This is an opportunity for an experienced tax professional who enjoys solving complex tax matters and working with a diverse private client base, including high-net-worth individuals, large family groups, trusts and privately owned businesses.

Description

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Senior Technical Tax Advisor to join our specialist Tax Team in Sydney.

Working closely with our Tax leadership and advisers across Boyce, you'll research and prepare technical tax advice, review complex matters and act as a valuable technical resource for our broader advisory teams.

You'll work across complex tax matters for high-net-worth individuals, large family groups, trusts, privately owned businesses and corporate groups. Your work will involve understanding clients' broader circumstances, interpreting complex tax legislation and translating that complexity into clear, practical advice that helps clients make informed decisions.

This role will suit an experienced tax professional who genuinely enjoys the technical and advisory side of tax: researching complex issues, solving problems, writing high-quality advice and sharing their expertise with others.

Key responsibilities

  • Researching complex Australian tax matters and preparing high-quality technical advice for private clients
  • Advising on tax matters involving high-net-worth individuals, family groups, trusts and privately owned business structures
  • Acting as a technical resource for Boyce advisers and supporting the broader business with complex tax matters
  • Reviewing tax advice prepared by Tax Advisors and advisers from other Boyce service lines
  • Applying your knowledge of tax effect accounting methodologies to prepare and review tax effect accounting workbooks
  • Keeping up to date with changes to tax legislation, regulations and the broader taxation landscape
  • Managing tax advisory and compliance priorities to support the timely delivery of advice
  • Communicating complex tax concepts in a clear, practical and meaningful way
  • Supporting and mentoring other advisers to build their technical capability
  • Sharing technical knowledge across Boyce through collaboration, training and technical updates

About you:

You'll be someone who enjoys getting beneath the surface of a complex tax issue and understanding why something works, rather than simply applying the same approach each time.

You'll bring strong technical tax knowledge, excellent research and analytical skills, and an ability to understand the complexities that can arise when advising high-net-worth individuals, family groups, trusts and privately held businesses.

Just as importantly, you'll enjoy working collaboratively. You'll be comfortable sharing your expertise, helping other advisers work through challenging matters and building trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.

Essential experience:

  • 5+ years' experience in public practice
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Business or a related discipline
  • CA or CPA qualification, or willingness to obtain
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation
  • Experience advising private clients, including individuals, family groups, trusts or privately owned businesses
  • Demonstrated ability to research and analyse complex tax legislation
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing detailed technical advice
  • Ability to communicate complex information simply and meaningfully
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy when working under pressure
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities

Desirable experience:

  • Broad exposure to complex tax matters affecting high-net-worth individuals, family groups and trusts
  • Experience preparing or reviewing tax effect accounting workbooks
  • Experience reviewing technical tax advice prepared by other advisers
  • Experience coaching or mentoring other accounting or tax professionals
  • Experience delivering tax training or sharing technical knowledge within a professional services environment

Benefits:

  • Join a leading advisory firm with a strong reputation built over more than 50 years
  • Work in a collaborative team where your contribution is valued and recognised
  • An attractive remuneration package commensurate with your qualifications and experience
  • Ongoing learning, development and career growth opportunities
  • A highly competitive parental leave offering
  • An extensive wellbeing program, including five wellbeing days per year and access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Flexible working arrangements and a supportive team environment
  • A values-driven culture focused on community, connection and long-term impact

About Boyce:

Boyce is a leading Australian advisory firm with over 50 years of experience supporting individuals, businesses and communities across regional and metropolitan Australia.

Our Tax Team provides specialist expertise to private clients and advisers across Boyce. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to apply your technical capability to complex client circumstances, help solve challenging problems, develop our people and contribute to the high standard of advice we provide.

Interested? How to Apply:

Please submit your application below.
