Our employees proudly serve as trusted advisors and innovative problem solvers for our clients. We are seeking a Technical Writer to join our diverse and talented team.

The Technical Writer supports WMC on EVOLV 09 to standardize position descriptions and functional statements for federal healthcare occupations. This role analyzes multiple versions of similar documents, identifies core duties and position requirements, and develops consolidated standardized position descriptions (approximately 6–8 pages each) that apply nationally across all facilities. The Technical Writer collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs), conducts research to align content with mission and function frameworks, and ensures final deliverables comply with VA Style Guide, classification formatting requirements, and Section 508 accessibility standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Produces clear, accurate, and user-centric workforce documentation that supports national standardization of federal healthcare position descriptions and functional statements.
  • Translates complex occupational and workforce information into structured, readable, and standardized documents aligned to VA classification and organizational frameworks.
  • Performs document analysis across multiple source versions to identify patterns, inconsistencies, gaps, and duplicative content, and recommends consolidation approaches.
  • Applies information design principles to organize content logically, improve readability, and ensure consistent formatting across deliverables.
  • Conducts research and validation to ensure duties, requirements, and terminology align with mission/function frameworks, occupational standards, and federal workforce expectations.
  • Facilitates and participates in SME working sessions; captures decisions, resolves conflicting input, and incorporates feedback into revised drafts across multiple review cycles.
  • Edits and proofreads for technical accuracy, clarity, tone, grammar, and consistency, ensuring deliverables are polished and ready for leadership review.
  • Ensures all deliverables meet VA Style Guide standards, classification formatting requirements, and Section 508 accessibility standards.
  • Maintains document control practices, including version tracking, review logs, and change documentation, to support quality assurance and final approvals.
  • Supports project leadership through timely completion of deliverables, status updates, and responsiveness to evolving priorities and deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience producing professional technical documentation, policy-style documents, or workforce/human capital deliverables in a structured and highly regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to analyze and synthesize complex source material from multiple inputs (e.g., SMEs, legacy documents, guidance, and reference frameworks) into clear, standardized written products.
  • Strong editing and quality control skills, including the ability to ensure consistency in terminology, formatting, tone, and document structure across multiple deliverables.
  • Experience managing iterative review cycles and incorporating stakeholder feedback while maintaining document integrity, version control, and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with subject matter experts and project leadership, including facilitating clarification discussions and resolving conflicting input.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility requirements and document remediation practices (e.g., Section 508 compliance, accessible Word formatting, and readability standards).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft 365 collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive), including track changes, comments, and controlled document workflows.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple drafts, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or 8 years of equivalent experience.
