What they need
Are you an experienced composites laboratory professional looking to make a direct impact on the future of renewable energy? Our client, a leading international organisation within the wind energy sector, is seeking a Senior Technician Composites to support the development and testing of advanced materials used in next-generation wind turbine blades. This is a highly autonomous position offering significant responsibility, technical ownership, and the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment. If you enjoy hands-on laboratory work and advanced materials testing, we encourage you to apply.
Job Description As a Senior Technician Composites, you will play a key role within an R&D and materials testing environment focused on composite materials used in high-performance engineering applications. Working closely with engineers and material specialists, you will be responsible for manufacturing laboratory test specimens, conducting mechanical and physical testing, analysing results, and contributing to material development projects.
This position combines practical laboratory work with technical interpretation of test data. You will work with composite materials such as glass fibre, carbon fibre, and epoxy systems to assess performance characteristics and support continuous product improvement. In addition, your experience will be instrumental in guiding junior laboratory colleagues and maintaining high technical standards within the testing programme.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture composite test specimens using glass fibre, carbon fibre, and epoxy-based materials.
- Perform physical and mechanical material testing, including tensile, compression, and strength testing.
- Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment and associated instruments.
- Collect, process, and interpret test results and experimental data.
- Support material development and validation activities for composite structures.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of laboratory activities and test outcomes.
- Troubleshoot testing procedures and recommend process improvements where appropriate.
- Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and technical stakeholders on development projects.
- Mentor and support junior laboratory technicians and less experienced team members.
- Maintain laboratory safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Requirements
- HBO degree, MLO qualification, Master's degree, or equivalent education in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Composite Technology, or a related discipline.
- Approximately 5 to 10 years of experience working with composite materials in a laboratory, testing, or R&D environment.
- Candidates with at least 2 years of strong relevant experience may also be considered.
- Knowledge of (composite) manufacturing techniques and specimen preparation.
- Experience performing mechanical and physical material testing using laboratory equipment.
- Ability to analyse and interpret testing data accurately.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Background within the wind energy, aerospace, aviation, marine, shipbuilding, or other high-tech manufacturing industries is prefered.
- Experience gained in organisations focused on advanced composites and large-scale engineering products.
Benefits
- Region: Eastern Netherlands.
- Salary indication: To be discussed based on experience.
- Working hours: Full-time.
- Contract type: Initial 12-month contract with the intention of long-term employment.
- Opportunity to work for a globally operating organisation within the renewable energy sector.
