Senior Technician - Networking

As a Senior Technician - Networking, you will play a crucial role in the design, installation, and maintenance of networking/structured cabling systems for our clients. You will lead a team of technicians and oversee the planning and execution of cabling projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Your expertise in networking/structured cabling, along with your leadership abilities, will contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality solutions that meet our clients' requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of structured cabling technicians in the installation, termination, and testing of copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop project plans and timelines.
• Conduct site surveys and assess requirements for cabling projects.
• Document structured cabling systems based on industry standards and client specifications.
• Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cables, connectors, and related components.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with cabling systems, including signal quality, connectivity, and performance.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and safety guidelines.
• Maintain accurate documentation of cabling installations, including labeling, diagrams, and test results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cabling systems with other network infrastructure components.
• Design systems and layout.
• Maintain a high level of safety and professionalism.
• Lead projects at a site level, manage a team of junior technicians as necessary.
• Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in structured cabling installation and maintenance

• In-depth knowledge of industry standards and best practices for copper and fiber optic cabling systems

• Maintain a valid Washington Electrical Trainee Card (if not yet EL06 certified) as a condition of and throughout employment until certification is obtained

• Once obtained Maintain a valid Washington EL06 license as a condition of employment

• Complete all required continuing education and license renewals to keep credentials active

• Notify the company immediately if a trainee card or EL06 license expires, is suspended, or is revoked

• Meet the company's established timeline for obtaining EL06 certification after becoming eligible to take the examination.

• Employees are expected to obtain their EL06 within 3 months after becoming eligible to sit for the exam, unless an extension is approved for business or personal reasons.

• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and diagrams

• Experience leading and managing a team of cabling technicians

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Familiarity with testing equipment and tools used in structured cabling

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites as required

Preffered Qualifications

• Relevant certifications (e.g., BICSI, CFOT, Specific Manufacturer training) are a plus

The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, and type on keyboard; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of power tools will be required to effectively perform this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet).

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work on job sites, may be required to travel to and from job site locations, may work in a typical office environment, and is occasionally exposed to construction equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Confined space entry may be required. High work may be required.

Additional Information

• Compensation: $40.00 - $46.00/hour (DOE)

• Working Hours: This position generally works Monday- Friday, overtime and on call when necessary
