This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong, commercially aware and confident leading a busy workshop team. You will play a key part in the continued growth of our Cwmbran operation.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be both a hands‑on technical leader and an effective workshop controller, ensuring the smooth, efficient and high‑quality running of our Cwmbran workshop.

You will lead from the front, supporting technicians with diagnostics, mechanical repairs and complex jobs while also managing workflow, allocating jobs, maintaining standards and ensuring customers receive clear communication throughout the repair process.

  • Lead, motivate and develop the workshop team.
  • Provide technical support with complex diagnostic and mechanical issues.
  • Remain hands-on and capable of tackling difficult technical jobs when required.
  • Monitor technician productivity, efficiency and workshop KPIs.
  • Maintain manufacturer, company and quality standards at all times.
  • Carry out quality control and final vehicle checks before release.
  • Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure customers are kept fully informed.
  • Act as a key point of contact between the workshop, service team and customers.
  • Handle technical queries, customer concerns and escalations professionally.
  • Manage workshop workflow, scheduling and turnaround times.
  • Support recruitment and development of the workshop team as the business grows.
  • Assist with parts and supplier management.
  • Help manage workshop equipment, tooling and facilities.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety.
  • Support MOT operations and compliance.

What You’ll Need

  • Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience as a Senior Technician, Master Technician or similar.
  • Strong mechanical, diagnostic and electrical systems knowledge.
  • Experience using professional diagnostic equipment.
  • Previous workshop supervision, control or management experience.
  • Experience allocating work and managing workshop workflow.
  • Strong understanding of workshop productivity, efficiency and KPIs.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a workshop team.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking ability.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced automotive environment.
  • A professional, customer‑focused approach.
  • Full UK driving licence.
