This is a hands-on role for an engineer who is confident working independently at customer sites and has strong experience across telecoms, networking and IT infrastructure. You will be responsible for installations, configuration, troubleshooting and ongoing customer support, while also working closely with our Project Management, Operations and Technical Support teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out telecoms and IT installations at customer sites
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot business telephone systems, including PBX and hosted/cloud solutions
  • Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, Wi-Fi and LAN infrastructure
  • Install and test structured cabling and associated network equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve telecoms, networking and connectivity faults both onsite and remotely
  • Complete customer projects from installation through to handover
  • Work independently to manage and resolve technical issues
  • Liaise directly with customers and provide a professional, high-quality service
  • Complete accurate job notes, documentation and system updates
  • Identify additional technical requirements or opportunities at customer sites and communicate these internally
  • Work closely with Project Managers and the wider Operations team to ensure projects are delivered successfully
  • Assist with the training and development of junior engineers
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and technical workmanship
  • Participate in an on-call/technical support rota where required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • 3+ years' experience in a telecoms, IT or network engineering role
  • Strong practical experience with business telecoms and telephone systems
  • Good understanding of IP networking, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs and LAN/WAN infrastructure
  • Experience with routers, switches and Wi-Fi networks
  • Experience with structured cabling and network installations
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues in customer environments
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and understand technical information and network diagrams
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of jobs through to completion
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A positive attitude and willingness to continue developing technically
  • Full Irish Driving Licence (essential)

Desirable Experience

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Hosted VoIP / SIP
  • iPECS or other business PBX platforms
  • Microsoft 365
  • Unifi or similar networking/Wi-Fi platforms
  • Business broadband and connectivity
  • Firewalls and network security
  • CCTV or access control
  • Fibre and structured cabling
  • Microsoft Windows and basic server infrastructure

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Company vehicle
  • Performance bonus
  • Company pension
  • Ongoing technical training and career development
  • Exposure to a broad range of telecoms and IT technologies
  • Opportunities to progress within a growing business
  • Bike to work scheme
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Employee discounts
  • Company events
  • On-site parking

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to take the next step in their career and work across a varied customer base.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of telecoms, networking and IT projects rather than being restricted to a single technology or customer environment.

We are particularly interested in engineers who take pride in their work, enjoy solving technical problems and are comfortable dealing directly with customers.

Yellowcom is committed to promoting equal opportunities in employment. All applicants will be treated fairly based on merit, skills and qualifications.
