Senior Tooling Technician

About the Role

As a Senior Tooling Technician, you will serve as a critical technical resource for our production floor, ensuring the precision and reliability of our manufacturing infrastructure. You will leverage your expertise in CNC programming and complex die maintenance to minimize downtime and drive continuous improvement in our tooling processes.

Responsibilities

• Execute complex repairs and preventative maintenance on production dies, molds, and fixtures to ensure optimal output.
• Program and operate advanced CNC machinery and Wire EDM systems to fabricate high-precision components.
• Diagnose mechanical failures in tooling and equipment, implementing effective corrective actions to maintain production schedules.
• Interpret intricate technical blueprints and GD&T specifications to machine parts to exacting tolerances.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to refine tooling designs and support new product development initiatives.
• Mentor junior staff on best practices for shop math, precision measurement, and safe machine operation.
• Uphold a rigorous safety-first environment by strictly adhering to LOTO, PPE, and hazard communication protocols.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in tool and die making or equivalent technical training.
• Proficiency in CNC programming, Wire EDM, and manual machining (mills, lathes, grinders).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and modify complex dies, jigs, and gauges.
• Strong command of shop math, including trigonometry and metric conversions.
• Expertise in reading blueprints and working with extremely close tolerances.

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience working within an ISO 9001:2015 quality management framework.
• Certification or documented experience operating a sit-down forklift.
• Background in metal stamping, forming, and progressive die environments.
• Familiarity with specialized equipment such as boring mills and EDM drilling machines.
