Cincinnati Children's is seeking a Senior Ventures Consultant to help evaluate, shape, and advance high-potential innovation assets into credible venture opportunities. This role sits at the intersection of science, commercialization, market diligence, startup formation, and institutional venture development.
What You Will Do
- Evaluate high-conviction venture opportunities that have passed institutional triage and viability review.
- Conduct technical, market, competitive, and financial diligence for early venture opportunities.
- Translate scientific and clinical innovation into business cases, venture models, and investor-ready narratives.
- Assess commercialization pathways for therapeutics, biologics, cell and gene therapy, small molecule, and related life science assets.
- Prepare diligence materials and recommendations that support go or no-go decisions for venture formation and investment.
- Partner with licensing, portfolio, legal, finance, operations, faculty, entrepreneurs-in-residence, and venture leadership to move opportunities toward NewCo formation or institutional separation.
- Support pitch preparation, financial scenarios, investor materials, and early go-to-market thinking.
What Will Help You Be Successful
- Ability to evaluate both the scientific/technical basis and the commercial potential of life science assets.
- Comfort discussing cap tables, valuation mechanics, capital pathways, and investor fit.
- Experience building or stress-testing early business cases, market sizing, competitive positioning, and value creation narratives.
- Confidence presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders and decision-making groups.
- Ability to work independently in a newer, evolving venture development structure.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, life sciences, engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in startup formation, venture development, commercialization, venture capital, or innovation-driven operating environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Business Administration (MBA).
- Experience with startup formation, venture capital, or early-stage commercialization.
- Helpful experience includes pharma, biotech, therapeutics, biologics, cell and gene therapy, business development, technology transfer, venture analysis, or early-stage life science company formation.
