About the role

You turn a script into shootable, usable footage — on set, on schedule, at standard. You are the first-line owner on every shoot day: you set up, you direct the talent through the script, you cover the shot list, and you hand off footage that an editor can cut without chasing you for missing material. We shoot in batches. A normal shoot day means covering multiple sets and multiple scripts in one block, not one video at a leisurely pace. Volume is real and the standard doesn't move with it. This role is banded. Videographer executes an approved script to standard. Senior Videographer additionally directs, makes judgement calls on set when a script isn't working, and can cover downstream work — edit and post — when the pipeline has a gap. We assess the band during the interview and shoot test; you apply once.

What you'll own

• Shoot execution — Camera, lighting, audio and framing for every assigned script. Cover the full shot list including B-roll and cutaways. Batch-shoot method across multiple sets per day.
• Talent direction — Run script reading, blocking and rehearsal before rolling. Get a usable performance from workshop staff and non-professional talent, not just a technically clean take.
• Technical standard — 4K capture, 30fps dialogue / 60fps+ B-roll, exposure set in sequence (shutter → aperture → ISO), dialogue mic peaks not exceeding −6 dBFS. Consistent look across a batch so an editor isn't colour-matching shot to shot.
• Handoff discipline — Upload footage same day with a completed handoff note: what's shot, what's missing, what needs a retake. Incomplete handoffs are the single biggest cause of pipeline stalls here.
• File and asset hygiene — Correct naming, correct folder, logged in the production tracker (Lark). Every clip traceable to its video code.
• Senior band additionally owns — on-set creative direction when a script stalls; judging footage against the internal score sheet before it moves downstream; coaching junior videographers; stepping into edit or posting when output is at risk.

What you'll need

• 1–3 or more than 3 years (Senior Videographer) years hands-on short-form video shooting — you have personally operated the camera, not assisted
• Working knowledge of exposure, framing, and on-camera audio; comfortable with lav and shotgun mics
• Vertical 9:16 short-form fluency (TikTok, Reels, Shorts)
• Fluent Bahasa Malaysia and English — you'll direct talent in both
• Reliable on schedule. Shoot days are fixed and other people's work depends on yours landing.
• Can run a full batch-shoot day independently: shot list, sets, talent, props, timing
• Downward-compatible: you can edit and post, not just shoot. You can judge whether footage will cut before you leave the location.
• Can read a script for its funnel intent (hook, body, CTA) and flag on set when a shot won't deliver it
• Has coached or led other shooters
