Senior Virtualization Consultant – VMware to Hyper-V Migration

Working Hours: Must be available to work within the 7:00 AM–6:00 PM Pacific Time (PT) window.

Location: 100% Remote

Duration: Short-Term Contract - 8 weeks

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Virtualization Consultant to provide technical guidance and hands-on advisory support for a critical VMware-to-Hyper-V migration project. The consultant will work closely with the internal IT team to recommend architecture best practices, support Hyper-V cluster configuration and System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) deployments, and troubleshoot complex migration challenges to ensure successful, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on migration strategies and best practices for transitioning enterprise workloads from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Review and advise on Hyper-V architecture, cluster configuration, and high-availability solutions.
• Support System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) deployment, configuration, and management.
• Troubleshoot complex migration challenges, including storage conversion issues, compatibility concerns, and performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with internal IT teams to resolve technical issues and minimize migration risks and downtime.
• Recommend solutions to improve migration efficiency, stability, and overall project outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on enterprise Microsoft Hyper-V experience.
• Proven experience executing or advising on VMware-to-Hyper-V migrations.
• Strong technical expertise in Hyper-V clustering, cluster management, and high availability.
• Extensive experience with System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex virtualization, storage, and performance issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide clear technical direction to internal IT teams.
