Job Purpose

The Senior Waiter is the guest’s main guide through the Volto dining journey. More than taking orders, this role is about owning the guest experience – leading service at the table with confidence, knowledge, and style. The Captain Waiter ensures that every interaction feels personal, polished, and perfectly timed.

Role Overview

As Captain Waiter, you are the point of connection between the guest, the kitchen, and the bar. You’ll present menus, explain specials, make recommendations, and ensure orders are delivered smoothly. You’ll manage a section of the floor, supervising supporting waitstaff and runners to guarantee standards remain consistent.

Your role is also about upselling with confidence – guiding guests toward pairings, premium options, and experiences that enhance their visit. You’ll keep an eye on the details: table setups, timing of courses, and guest cues that signal when to step in and when to step back.

Responsibilities

• Manage a section of the dining floor, ensuring seamless and attentive service.
• Present menus, explain specials, and confidently make food and beverage recommendations.
• Supervise assigned waitstaff and runners, providing guidance and real-time coaching.
• Monitor timing of courses and coordinate with kitchen and bar to ensure smooth flow.
• Anticipate guest needs, reading cues to deliver service that feels natural and attentive.
• Upsell premium items, pairings, and experiences to enhance guest satisfaction and sales.
• Ensure tables are correctly set, maintained, and reset for smooth turnover.
• Handle guest concerns promptly and professionally, escalating when necessary.
• Train and support new waitstaff to align with Volto’s service style and standards.
• Maintain knowledge of menu changes, pairings, and promotions for accurate recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and service protocols at all times.
• Act as role model on the floor, setting the standard for professionalism and guest focus.

The Captain Waiter is polished, professional, and guest-focused. You combine menu and beverage knowledge with the ability to read people, adapting your style to each guest. You lead by example, staying calm under pressure and inspiring the team working under you. Confidence, charm, and attentiveness are your trademarks.

Qualifications & Experience

• 3+ years in high-end hospitality service, with at least 1 year in a senior waiter or captain role.
• Strong food, beverage, and pairing knowledge.
• Proven ability to supervise a small team during service.
• Hospitality training or diploma (preferred).

Pay: From BD250.000 per month
