Senior Waterway Engineer

About the role

Join Streamology as a Senior Waterway Engineer delivering river restoration, urban stream naturalisation and urban water management projects across Australia. You will lead teams and clients from concept and detailed design through to hydrologic/hydraulic modelling (HEC-RAS, TUFLOW) and design delivery (12d/AutoCAD) in a multi-disciplinary environment focused on nature-based solutions. You will work closely with a dynamic team to plan, design and implement river restoration, urban water management and urban stream naturalisation projects. This position covers a broad spectrum of projects focusing on waterways and can involve concept and detailed design, including modelling using software such as 12d and AutoCAD through to HEC-RAS and TUFLOW. The projects can be across both urban and rural waterways, and you will work with geomorphologists, planners, engineers, ecologists and strategists.

Key responsibilities

• Support and lead teams on waterway and river projects

• Liaise with clients including Seqwater, Melbourne Water, Sydney Water and the Murray–Darling Basin Authority

• Contribute to the delivery of projects with positive impact on river and catchment management

• Plan, design and implement river restoration, urban water management and urban stream naturalisation projects

• Develop and maintain rapport with clients, stakeholders and team members

• Contribute to implementing nature-based solutions for waterway and catchment management

About you

• Degree or higher in civil or environmental engineering or equivalent
• 10-15 years' experience applying engineering principles in the waterway, river, coastal and catchment space
• CPEng and relevant state-based certification (e.g. RPEQ, RPEV)
• Proficiency and experience in analysing the hydraulics of waterways and estuaries
• Experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software
• Experience in design software 12d and AutoCAD (or similar)
• Project management skills
• Proven ability to develop a good rapport with clients, stakeholders, team members
• Comfortable with travel within state and interstate
• Friendly, proactive, and self-motivated
