Senior Web Developer

About the Role

CopperPixel Creative is hiring a Senior Web Developer to build fast, modern websites that convert visitors into customers. We're looking for a developer who understands how technical performance, usability, and thoughtful implementation contribute to a successful website.

You'll work on website development, improvements, and ongoing maintenance, turning design concepts and project requirements into reliable digital experiences. Strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and clear communication are essential.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain responsive websites for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
• Turn design files and project briefs into functional, accessible web pages.
• Write clean, maintainable code using appropriate development practices.
• Improve website speed, performance, functionality, and usability.
• Troubleshoot bugs, browser compatibility issues, and technical problems.
• Apply appropriate accessibility, security, and search-engine-friendly practices.
• Collaborate with designers and project stakeholders to deliver agreed requirements.
• Review existing websites and recommend practical technical improvements.
• Test pages, forms, links, layouts, and interactive features before launch.
• Use version control and follow consistent development workflows.
• Communicate project progress, technical risks, and potential delays clearly.

What You'll Bring

• Professional experience developing and maintaining production websites.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web development practices.
• Experience with relevant frameworks, content management systems, or web platforms.
• Understanding of responsive design, website performance, accessibility, and browser compatibility.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to produce maintainable solutions.
• Familiarity with version control and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to translate design concepts into accurate, functional web experiences.
• A portfolio or examples of websites that demonstrate your development capabilities.
• Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly.
• A responsible approach to testing, deadlines, documentation, and feedback.

What to Expect in the Role

You'll be expected to take ownership of your work, check the quality of your deliverables, and raise technical concerns early. You'll collaborate with other project contributors while managing your development tasks and meeting agreed deadlines.

We value practical problem-solving. When a requested feature creates performance or maintenance concerns, you should be prepared to explain the trade-offs and recommend a workable alternative.

Working Schedule

This is a full-time position based in Chicago, Illinois. The standard working schedule is Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
