Senior Windows Systems Engineer (PowerShell Automation SME)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Windows Systems Engineer to join our infrastructure team in supporting high-volume, large-scale virtual application and desktop platforms used in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings extensive background in designing, optimizing, and automating massive global infrastructures (spanning thousands of virtual machines and servers) using advanced PowerShell tooling and comprehensive telemetry frameworks.

Note: While this role sits within our Citrix engineering environment, deep Windows engineering and robust PowerShell automation skills are our primary focus —experience with Citrix is a strong plus, but willingness to learn is also welcome.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, manage, and support large-scale virtualized environments and Windows Server operating systems across multi-hypervisor architectures (such as VMware and Hyper-V/Storage Spaces Direct clusters).
• Engineer custom PowerShell scripting, automation modules (such as DSC), and tooling to orchestrate vendor platforms and eliminate manual configuration overhead.
• Build proactive telemetry and observability pipelines utilizing tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Telegraf to monitor real-time performance and user experience.
• Provide expert-level system troubleshooting, cross-functional support, and root-cause problem solving for complex enterprise infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with software development, production engineering, and business units to scale and streamline solutions.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 7+ to 15 years of professional infrastructure and systems engineering experience specializing in high-availability virtual desktop and application platforms.
• Strong, hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting, automation, and configuration management (candidates should be ready to share examples of process revamping and optimization).
• Deep engineering and troubleshooting expertise across modern Windows Server operating systems, core networking concepts, and virtualization technologies.
• Direct experience managing global virtual infrastructure supporting massive user bases and thousands of servers/virtual machines.
• Experience with Citrix CVAD environments or a strong background in similar virtual desktop/application delivery architectures is a strong plus.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, InfluxDB, or ELK.
