Senior Wireless Engineer, PHY/MAC (DECT NR+)

Hannover region, Germany | Permanent | Up to €95k

A globally recognised audio technology company is building a new wireless platform from the ground up, and is looking for a senior engineer to help shape it.

This is a new R&D foundation team. Its job is to develop core wireless technology once and reuse it across the company’s future product range. The platform is based on DECT NR+, the ETSI standard for licence-free, 5G-class wireless. You’ll join early, with real influence over the architecture.

What you’ll do

• Define the protocol and software architecture for the new wireless platform
• Write, optimise and debug PHY/MAC code in C/C++ in embedded environments
• Use simulation and measurement to make architecture decisions on performance, robustness, timing and interference
• Act as the technical go-to person across platform, hardware and software teams, and coordinate with external technology partners
• Mentor other engineers and lead technical reviews and design workshops
• Contribute to standardisation work and funded research projects

What you’ll bring

• Strong hands-on PHY/MAC experience in 4G/LTE, 5G NR or TETRA. DECT NR+ experience is a bonus but not required, as it can be learned.
• The ability to design architecture and also implement it yourself
• Embedded C/C++, plus Python or MATLAB for simulation and analysis
• A solid grounding in signal processing: synchronisation, channel estimation, channel coding
• Experience working across layers and teams, with some technical leadership or coordination
• Experience with DSPs, FPGAs or SoCs, standards bodies, open-source stacks, or audio and media streaming products (all nice to have)
