Senior/Design Engineer (Mechanical - Heavy Equipment)

About the role

The role involves the design and development of heavy-duty and oilfield equipment, with hands-on exposure from concept and engineering design through fabrication, assembly and testing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities from concept through fabrication, assembly and testing.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, 3D models, fabrication drawings, BOMs and technical specifications.
• Review and verify engineering drawings and designs before release for fabrication.
• Coordinate structural, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical interfaces within equipment designs.
• Provide technical support to Production, QA/QC and Project teams during fabrication and assembly.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and testing.
• Review work prepared by Design Engineers and junior engineering personnel.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable company, client and industry requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of WTE's engineering standards, procedures and design practices.

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
• Approximately 7–10 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Strong experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience in heavy equipment, machinery, oil & gas equipment, fabrication or similar industries is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of engineering calculations, mechanical design and fabrication.
• Knowledge of structural design, hydraulics and machinery systems is an advantage.
• Able to interpret and review engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on engineering approach.
• Able to work closely with workshop and production personnel.
