Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Lead the design of mechanical systems for data centers and other critical facilities while ensuring compliance with local and international regulations. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their needs and ensuring that project deliverables meet their expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of mechanical systems for data centers and other critical facilities while ensuring compliance with local and international regulations
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
• Conduct load calculations and system assessments to determine heating and cooling requirements
• Develop detailed equipment specifications, selection criteria, and performance metrics
• Review technical drawings, schematics, and construction documentation
• Assist in developing HVAC system strategies for high-efficiency, sustainable designs
• Liaise with design teams across the APAC region to ensure alignment on project objectives, best practices, and design standards
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their needs and ensuring that project deliverables meet their expectations
• Facilitate coordination between various disciplines (MEP, Architecture, structural, civil) to ensure integrated design solutions

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 7-15 years of experience in Mechanical design consultancy, including in Data Centres projects
• Proficient in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, HAP, pipe and duct sizing)
• Knowledge in relevant Data Center codes (TIA, Uptime, ASHRAE TC 9.9)
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
• Proven experience in managing a team and mentoring junior staff, either within the same office or across different countries
• Fluency in English
