What they need
Precision. Quality. Technical Skill.
Are you someone who enjoys hands-on technical work and takes real pride in getting the small details right?
Do you have experience in electronics assembly, PCB soldering or precision manufacturing — or perhaps you're looking to develop your skills in this area?
We are working with an established and growing manufacturing business to recruit a Sensor Build Technician to join its specialist Manufacturing team.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills while working with electronic assemblies, sensors, PCBs and small components in a precision manufacturing environment.
Full training will be provided, making this an attractive opportunity for candidates with relevant practical experience who are keen to develop their career in electronics manufacturing.
The Role
As a Sensor Build Technician, you will play an important role in the manufacture of electronic assemblies that are fundamental to the performance and reliability of the company's products.
Working as part of a skilled manufacturing team, you will be responsible for the assembly and soldering of PCBs, sensors and associated electronic components, ensuring that every product meets the required quality and workmanship standards.
You'll work to established build instructions and IPC standards, carrying out precise and repetitive tasks where accuracy, consistency and attention to detail are essential.
The role will include:
· Assembling and soldering PCBs, sensors and small electronic components
· Working with soldering equipment and precision tools
· Following detailed build instructions, drawings and manufacturing procedures
· Carrying out visual and functional quality inspections
· Ensuring assemblies meet required specifications and workmanship standards
· Working in accordance with IPC J-STD-001 requirements
· Identifying and escalating quality issues or unclear specifications
· Maintaining accurate and consistent production output
· Supporting daily production targets and manufacturing plans
· Contributing ideas to improve quality, efficiency and manufacturing processes
· Supporting and sharing knowledge with new or less experienced team members
· Working collaboratively with Production, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
About You
You don't necessarily need to be an experienced electronics technician.
We're particularly interested in people who have and can demonstrate excellent attention to detail, good manual dexterity and a genuine interest in precision hands-on work.
You may already have experience in:
· Electronics assembly
· PCB assembly
· PCB soldering
· Electrical assembly
· Precision manufacturing
· Sensor manufacturing
· Small-component assembly
· Production or manufacturing environments
Alternatively, you may have developed strong practical skills in another technical or manufacturing environment and be looking for an opportunity to move into electronics manufacturing.
Full training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, aptitude and attention to detail.
What You'll Need
Essential
· You can demonstrate excellent attention to detail
· Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
· Ability to work accurately with small components
· Ability to carry out repetitive, highly precise tasks consistently
· A strong commitment to quality and workmanship
· Ability to follow detailed procedures and work instructions
· Good organisational and time-management skills
· Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
· A proactive and positive approach to work.
Desirable
· Previous experience in electronic assembly or PCB soldering
· Experience within a manufacturing environment
· Formal training in electronics, assembly or soldering
· IPC J-STD-001 certification
· Previous experience working to IPC or other recognised manufacturing standards.
If you don't currently hold IPC certification, that's not a problem — there will be an opportunity to develop your skills and work towards IPC J-STD-001 certification**.**
What Makes This Opportunity Interesting?
This isn't simply a production-line role. You'll be working on specialist electronic assemblies where precision and workmanship directly influence the quality and reliability of the finished product.
You'll have the opportunity to:
· Develop specialist electronics assembly and soldering skills
· Receive training and work towards recognised IPC J-STD-001 standards
· Build experience working with sensors and electronic assemblies
· Develop your technical career within a specialist manufacturing environment
· Contribute ideas and improvements to manufacturing processes
· Work alongside experienced Production, Quality and Engineering professionals.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be someone who:
· Takes pride in producing high-quality work
· Enjoys working with their hands
· Has excellent concentration and attention to detail
· Is comfortable working with small components and precision equipment
· Can maintain accuracy when performing repetitive tasks
· Follows processes carefully but isn't afraid to raise concerns or suggest improvements
· Works well independently and as part of a team
· Is reliable, organised and committed to meeting production requirements
· Is keen to learn and develop new technical skills.
Ready to Build Your Technical Career?
If you have electronics assembly or soldering experience, this could be an excellent opportunity to develop your career further.
