PROFILE
· Are you passionate about helping children and young people achieve positive outcomes?

· Do you want to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire?
If yes, then we’d love to hear from you
Remedi are seeking Mentors to deliver a specialist mentoring service for children and young people who are vulnerable to, affected by, or at risk of involvement in serious violence.
Mentors will engage children and young people within Nottingham Queen's Medical Centre Emergency Department and Trauma Ward, Nottingham City and Mansfield Custody Suites, and community settings across Nottinghamshire. Working alongside statutory and community partners, mentors will provide intensive, relationship-based support to help young people improve their wellbeing, increase safety, develop social skills, and achieve positive long-term outcomes.
The Mentor role will involve:
· Demonstrating experience of supporting individuals with multiple and intersecting needs, including an understanding of how factors such as trauma, mental ill-health, substance use, domestic abuse, housing instability, social isolation, and involvement with the criminal justice system can interact and impact outcomes
· Engaging young people within hospital, custody and community settings and providing immediate emotional support where appropriate.
· Managing a caseload of up to 10 children and young people at any one time.
· Completing child-centred assessments of need, risk, strengths, protective factors and aspirations.
· Delivering structured one-to-one mentoring interventions
· Supporting young people to access education, training, employment, positive activities and specialist services.
· Advocating on behalf of young people and ensuring their voices are heard within professional meetings.
· Working closely with families and carers to strengthen support networks and resilience.
· Maintaining regular contact with partner agencies including health professionals, police, youth justice services, social care, schools and voluntary sector organisations.
· Identifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and escalating concerns in line with organisational policies and procedures.
· Contributing to service monitoring, evaluation, case studies and reporting requirements.
The skills and qualities you will need to do the job well are:
Relationship building and Communication
The ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with young people is essential.
You will need:
· Excellent listening and communication skills.
· The ability to engage young people who may be reluctant to accept support.
· A calm, non-judgemental and empathetic approach.
· Confidence communicating with children, families and professionals.
· The ability to adapt communication styles to meet individual needs, including neurodiverse young people.
Partnerships
You will be required to work in close partnership with other agencies, attend regular meetings and establish new relationships as support needs cannot always be met by our service. It is vital therefore that you can build relationships with local partner agencies and community groups to identify appropriate signposting where needed and work with these agencies/groups to offer joint support.
Flexibility
The service operates seven days per week including evenings.
You will need:
· A flexible approach to working hours and locations.
· The ability to travel across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Current delivery patterns are expected to include attendance during peak demand periods, including:

· Tuesday and Saturday evenings within Queen's Medical Centre Emergency Department.
· Friday and Saturday evenings within the Queen's Medical Centre Trauma Ward.
