Server Administrator

Server & Systems Administrator – Remote

Carbon Reprographics is looking for an experienced and reliable Server & Systems Administrator to manage, secure, maintain, and optimize our server infrastructure and IT environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Windows/Linux servers, networking, cloud infrastructure, virtualization, backups, cybersecurity, and system monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers.
• Monitor server health, performance, storage, network availability, and critical services.
• Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, Microsoft Azure, DigitalOcean, or similar platforms.
• Manage virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, and Docker.
• Configure and maintain backups and disaster-recovery procedures.
• Manage firewalls, VPNs, SSL certificates, and secure remote-access systems.
• Implement server-hardening and cybersecurity best practices.
• Perform system updates, security patches, upgrades, and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot server outages, network connectivity, storage, and performance issues.
• Configure infrastructure monitoring and alerting.
• Maintain accurate technical and infrastructure documentation.
• Support server migrations, deployments, upgrades, and other infrastructure projects.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of relevant professional experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and networking.
• Hands-on experience with cloud and virtualization technologies.
• Experience with backup and disaster-recovery solutions.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity and server-hardening practices.
• Familiarity with PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting/automation tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:
Experience with Microsoft 365, SQL Server, MySQL/PostgreSQL, NAS/SAN storage, infrastructure automation, or relevant Microsoft, AWS, Azure, Linux, Cisco, or CompTIA certifications is a plus.
