Position Summary

We are seeking a friendly, attentive, and professional Server to join our sushi restaurant team in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Server is responsible for creating an exceptional dining experience by providing knowledgeable menu guidance, accurate and efficient service, and genuine hospitality.

The ideal candidate is comfortable explaining sushi, sashimi, specialty rolls, Japanese ingredients, sake, and other beverages. Previous restaurant experience is preferred, but we are willing to train candidates who demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to learn.

Essential Responsibilities

* Greet guests promptly and provide welcoming, attentive service throughout their visit.

* Explain menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, daily specials, and chef recommendations.

* Help guests select sushi, sashimi, rolls, entrées, sake, wine, cocktails, and other beverages.

* Ask about food allergies and dietary restrictions and communicate them clearly to the kitchen and sushi bar.

* Accurately enter food and beverage orders into the restaurant’s point-of-sale system.

* Check identification and serve alcoholic beverages responsibly in accordance with restaurant policies and applicable Arizona requirements.

* Coordinate with sushi chefs, bartenders, hosts, bussers, and kitchen employees to ensure timely and accurate service.

* Monitor assigned tables, anticipate guests’ needs, and resolve concerns professionally.

* Present guest checks, process payments accurately, and follow cash-handling procedures.

* Complete opening, closing, cleaning, stocking, and side-work assignments.

* Maintain clean, organized, and properly set tables and service stations.

* Follow all food-safety, sanitation, personal-hygiene, and workplace-safety procedures.

* Support coworkers and assist in other areas of the restaurant when needed.

Qualifications

* Previous serving or hospitality experience preferred.

* Sushi or Japanese dining experience is a plus.

* Basic knowledge of sushi, sashimi, Japanese cuisine, sake, wine, and spirits is preferred.

* Strong communication, organization, and guest-service skills.

* Ability to learn the menu and explain unfamiliar ingredients confidently.

* Ability to remain composed and attentive in a fast-paced environment.

* Reliable, punctual, and committed to working as part of a team.

* Ability to accurately handle cash, credit-card transactions, and guest checks.

* Must meet all applicable age and eligibility requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.

* Food-handler and alcohol-service training or certification may be required based on the position and restaurant policy.

* Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Physical Requirements

* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

* Ability to bend, reach, carry trays, and move safely through a busy dining room.

* Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

* Ability to work near hot equipment, sharp utensils, food products, and cleaning supplies.
