What they need
From the Ownership Team Behind Shoji and The Shota
We are building a new fine dining omakase concept in the Financial District of San Francisco, featuring a three-course prix fixe menu with curated sake pairings, an intimate sushi counter where our chefs serve guests directly, and a dining room of 10–12 tables.
We are seeking a polished, detail-oriented Server to help deliver an elevated, seamless guest experience from the moment someone walks through the door.
Our ownership team comes from a Michelin starred background and maintains high standards in every aspect of the business, from guest experience and teamwork to preparation, cleanliness, communication, and attention to detail.
We are looking for individuals who are talented, humble, coachable, and genuinely passionate about hospitality.
OPEN POSITION
Server
About the Role
As a Server, you'll be the primary point of contact for guests seated in our dining room, working in close coordination with our sushi chefs and sake sommelier to guide guests through a multi-course tasting menu and pairing experience.
This is a high-touch, detail-driven role suited to someone who thrives in a refined, quiet-luxury environment and takes pride in anticipating guest needs before they're spoken.
Responsibilities
- Guide guests through a structured, multi-course omakase experience with confidence, pacing, and polish
- Present and describe each course with clarity and enthusiasm
- Anticipate guest needs and maintain a high level of attentiveness without being intrusive
- Coordinate closely with sushi chefs, kitchen, and sake sommelier to ensure precise timing between courses
- Maintain deep familiarity with the menu, ingredients, preparation methods, and any dietary accommodations
- Uphold a calm, professional, and warm demeanor even during high-pressure service
- Support the overall ambiance and standards of a fine dining environment, including table maintenance, silent service techniques, and proper etiquette
- Continually build product knowledge, including participating in ongoing sake and menu trainings
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in upscale fine dining service required
- Experience with tasting menus, wine/sake pairings, or prix fixe formats strongly preferred
- Japanese cuisine experience is a plus but not required
- Sake knowledge is strongly preferred, with genuine interest in continuing to build expertise
- Exceptional communication and guest service skills
- A refined hospitality mindset — poised, attentive, and professional under pressure
- Strong memory and attention to detail (multi-course sequencing, allergy/dietary tracking, pairing notes)
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a tight-knit, high-performing team
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, and weekends
