Join the opening team behind one of New York’s most anticipated Japanese restaurant openings. From Ginza to Tribeca, Tanaka New York brings the world of Nikuya Tanaka to New York, with an à la carte dining room showcasing exceptional Japanese Wagyu alongside seasonal Japanese cuisine.

The Role

Tanaka New York is seeking experienced Servers for its à la carte dining room. Servers will play an essential role in introducing guests to the Tanaka experience through polished, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm hospitality.

Candidates should be excited to develop a deep understanding of Japanese Wagyu, cuisine, wine, sake, and the stories behind the menu while delivering service that feels personal rather than scripted.

Responsibilities

• Provide polished, attentive, and knowledgeable table service
• Develop detailed knowledge of the menu, Wagyu, ingredients, and preparation techniques
• Confidently explain dishes and guide guests through the menu
• Develop working knowledge of the wine, sake, and cocktail programs
• Make thoughtful food and beverage recommendations
• Accurately enter and manage orders
• Manage course pacing and communicate closely with the kitchen
• Coordinate with culinary, beverage, and support teams throughout service
• Anticipate guest needs and maintain a highly personalized level of hospitality
• Maintain dining-room and table standards
• Participate in daily pre-shifts, tastings, and continuing education

Ideal Candidate

• 3+ years of serving experience in fine dining or an elevated restaurant environment preferred
• Strong food and beverage knowledge
• Genuine interest in Japanese cuisine and hospitality
• Experience with Japanese cuisine, Wagyu, omakase, sake, or wine is highly valued
• Professional, warm, and detail-oriented approach to service
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Curious and enthusiastic about continuing food and beverage education
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
• New York City restaurant experience preferred

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
