About IAN SUSHI

IAN SUSHI began in South Korea as a revolving sushi concept and has been thoughtfully reimagined in the U.S. as a premium-casual Japanese dining destination. We specialize in aburi sushi and signature Japanese dishes, combining time-honored traditions with modern creativity and a relaxed dining atmosphere.

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Dishwasher who takes pride in cleanliness, organization, and supporting an efficient kitchen operation.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $5.00–$7.00 per hour plus Tips

Minimum Wage Guarantee: If an employee’s direct hourly wage and tips combined do not equal the applicable Virginia minimum wage, IAN SUSHI will pay the difference as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly and provide friendly, attentive service throughout their dining experience
• Provide customer service in accordance with IAN SUSHI’s operating manual, service standards, and procedures
• Learn the IAN SUSHI menu thoroughly and confidently explain menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, signature sauces, beverages, and current specials to guests
• Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them promptly into the POS system
• Communicate guest requests, dietary restrictions, and allergy information clearly to the kitchen and sushi bar teams
• Assist the sushi bar team with assembling and plating set menu items and serving them to guests as needed
• Deliver food and beverages accurately and promptly
• Check on guests throughout their meal and promptly address questions, requests, or concerns
• Always prioritize guest satisfaction while providing professional and thoughtful service
• Follow proper procedures when serving alcoholic beverages, including checking identification when required
• Process guest payments accurately using the POS system
• Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently
• Clean and maintain the dining room, patio, and assigned service areas
• Restock service stations, utensils, glassware, napkins, and other supplies as needed
• Work collaboratively with hosts, bussers, bartenders, kitchen staff, sushi chefs, and management to provide smooth and timely service
• Support other team members as needed, especially during busy service periods
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, alcohol-service, and restaurant policies
• Complete assigned opening, closing, cleaning, and side-work duties

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Restaurant Server or in a customer-service position is preferred
• Strong English communication skills are required
• A customer-first mindset with a genuine commitment to guest satisfaction
• Friendly, professional, attentive, and welcoming attitude
• Strong teamwork skills and willingness to support coworkers across different areas of the restaurant
• Ability and willingness to learn the entire IAN SUSHI menu and explain it accurately to guests
• Ability to follow IAN SUSHI’s operating manual, service standards, and procedures
• Basic math skills and ability to process payments accurately
• Ability to use or learn a restaurant POS system
• Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced dining environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate service
• Reliable, punctual, responsible, and team-oriented
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and management
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
• Knowledge of sushi or Japanese cuisine is a plus
• Food-handler or responsible alcohol-service certification, or willingness to obtain one, is preferred
