Server

The Original Pantry Cafe is preparing to reopen in downtown Los Angeles. First opened in 1924, the Pantry is one of the city’s most recognized restaurant institutions. We are seeking friendly, dependable servers who can provide warm, efficient service in a busy, high-volume restaurant.

Servers are responsible for creating a welcoming guest experience, maintaining strong knowledge of the menu, and working closely with the kitchen and service team to keep the restaurant running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, attentive service
• Accurately enter orders using the Toast POS system
• Serve food and beverages efficiently
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and available modifications
• Check on guests, refill beverages, and respond to requests
• Process cash and credit card payments accurately
• Communicate clearly with kitchen staff, bussers, and managers
• Complete assigned opening, closing, and side-work duties
• Maintain clean and organized tables, stations, and service areas
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
• Assist team members during busy periods
• Provide professional service when responding to guest concerns

Qualifications

• Previous serving experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant is required
• Friendly, professional, and dependable
• Able to remain organized and composed in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Comfortable using a restaurant POS system
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods and safely carry trays and dishes
• Current California Food Handler Card, or ability to obtain one
• Availability to work shifts beginning as early as 5:00 a.m. or ending as late as midnight, including weekends and holidays

This is a union position represented by UNITE HERE Local 11. Employee schedules and other terms and conditions of employment are governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Union dues are paid by the employee.

Pay: $18.42 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
